My Noah Movie Review

There are a couple of things one must keep in mind when seeing the movie. 1. It was written by an atheist. 2. Because of #1 in order to enjoy all the great attributes of the movie one must go into the movie with no preconceived notions.
Great attributes of the movie as a stand alone movie loosely based on the children's book version of the story of Noah (which I believe was done intentionally but I will get to that later):
  • Amazing acting. Their roles were played impeccably. (speaks to the actors themselves)
  • Superb graphics
  • Imaginative story line which flows very well.
  • Excellent representation of the human perspective of God without Christ.
  • Logical and modern perspective of Noah from a humanistic point of view.
Negative attributes of the movie:
  • Cartoon like figures to magnify the belief that the biblical accounts are fantastical fictional stories.
Christian Perspective of the movie

Many Christians have stated they dislike the movie because though despite the similarities it does not follow the biblical account. The writer of the film even laughingly bragged about his film being the least biblical bible movie ever. But, he is unknowingly following in the footsteps of Satan with 1 of Satan's most used tricks since the beginning of time. He uses just enough truth but twisted to possibly fool people into falling for his lie. Like in the garden of Eden when he used the Word of God but twisted to paint a bad picture of God. But, just like every other attempt of Satan it will fail. Just like when Jesus was crucified, Satan thought he won but in fact was defeated.
We as Christians need to use this as a teachable moment. I heard many people talking after the movie. This will get people to talk about the bible and for many it will turn them to research the actual truth which is a quest that will lead them to the Truth. God wins again. He will turn this to His glory. We need to be ready for the questions people will ask. This movie will reach many people who were never previously interested in bible stories because of the fame of the actors and the amazing acting, drama and action of the movie.
The realism of the characters also reminds us and will help people to realize that people in the bible were real people who had real flaws. We Christians sometimes mistakenly believe that people in the bible were pious and without flaws and doubts and failures. There are many human trials that people in the bible faced that we don't get to see.

The movie is a great movie if you understand that it is a fictional account of a true story. If you perceive the whole story of the movie and watch it for purely entertainment value it is awesome as a movie full of magic and great acting. If you are looking for biblical answers this is not the place to look but it should spark your interest in one of the greatest moments in the history of mankind.
